Agusto & Co. hereby assigns “Bbb” (long-term) and “A2” (short-term) ratings to Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited (“Sunbeth”, “SGC” or “the Company”). The ratings reflect the Company’s leading position within Nigeria’s cocoa trading industry, supported by its established sourcing network and diversified off-take arrangement with international commodity traders, processors and commodity market participants. The ratings also consider Sunbeth’s structured hedging framework, its dollar denominated revenue base, which support earnings resilience and operational flexibility. In addition, the Company’s ongoing investments in warehousing and logistics infrastructure, backward integration initiatives and planned cocoa, cashew and soybean processing facilities are expected to strengthen supply chain control, diversify revenue streams and support margin expansion over the medium term. However, the ratings are constrained by the significant level of funding advanced to related entities, which has weakened operating cash flow generation and reduced financial flexibility. In addition, the Company’s high leverage, thin equity cushion, exposure to commodity price volatility, and the likelihood of further debt accumulation to finance its expansion programme collectively underscore elevated risk and highlight concerns of overtrading driven by related-party support.
Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited is an agricultural commodity trading company with operations spanning sourcing, aggregation, warehousing, logistics and export activities across the agricultural commodities value chain. The Company’s core business is anchored on the procurement and export of cocoa beans and, to a lesser extent, cashew nuts, leveraging an extensive network of local buying agents, regional merchants and strategically located warehousing facilities. Sunbeth supplies international commodity traders, processors and commodity market participants under off-take arrangements, with revenues fully denominated in United States Dollars (USD). The Company is currently pursuing both backward and forward integration initiatives through the development of approximately 5,000 hectares of farmland for the cultivation of cocoa, cashew, sesame and soybeans, as well as the establishment of cocoa, cashew and soybean processing facilities to be managed by Sunbeth Food International Limited (Nigeria), an affiliate of the Company.
